Automation Mechanical Engineer
We have an exciting opportunity for an Automation Mechanical Engineer to travel throughout the Lift, Inc. territory. The Automation Mechanical Engineer will provide Subject Matter Expertise for Technical Mechanical Support to all lines of the Automation Support business unit. Technical Mechanical Support includes focusing on maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying material handling equipment to ensure operational performance of material handling equipment such as conveyors, sortation systems, ASRS, print and apply systems, palletizing, pick modules, wrappers, robotic and transfer systems. The Automation Mechanical Engineer must be familiar with a wide variety of the field’s concepts and be available on an as needed basis to address customer Mechanical Support Services concerns at customer sites. The Automation Mechanical Engineerserves in the Mentor capacity for all technicians in the Automation Support Business Unit.
Essential Job Functions:
Provides Subject Matter Expertise as a Technical Mechanical Resource for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and modification of material handling equipment systems, including mechanical drive systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, CMMS Systems, preventive, and reactive maintenance procedures.
Provides Subject Matter Expertise as a Technical Mechanical Resource for all mechanical operational issues, training, or projects. Provides support during normal working hours and after hours as needed
Develops Curriculum, leads, and provides all Mechanical Systems training for Automation Support Technicians. Identifies and schedules all OEM Vendor related Mechanical System training.
Partners with equipment vendors and parts suppliers to plan and coordinate new technology installations or modifications. Provides on-site guidance to ensure specifications are adhered by services technicians.
Performs customer Asset Condition Assessments including creating reports for PSS Representatives, Customers and Automation Support Leadership
Communicates technical issues and project timelines with the Automation Directors.
Provides all necessary reports or Metrics on Mechanical Services and research to Automation Directors as needed.
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Works with customers to make recommendations for Safety Compliance Improvements
Serves as the Mechanical Systems Representative on the Safety Committee.
Performs other work as directed.
Required Qualifications:
A combination of a Minimum 5 years of related experience and/or training in Automation System Mechanical Maintenance, Mechatronics or Equipment Mechanical Reliability Engineering.
Experience with means to identify, maintain, and troubleshoot a large variety of material handling.
equipment including conveyors, sortation systems, ASRS, print and apply systems, palletizing, pick modules, wrappers, robotic arms, and transfer systems.
Experience with 480V 3-Phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems
Project management experience with the installation and modification of new or existing equipment.
Ability to interpret and modify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
Knowledge of PLC implementation and programming capability.
Knowledge of Maintenance and Reliability testing techniques

Requires a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in a Distribution Center or Manufacturing Environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as a Maintenance and Reliability Professional
Knowledge of AutoCAD
Advanced Knowledge of CMMS Systems
Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
Working Conditions:
Must be able to lift or exert force up to 50 pounds.
Wearing steel or composite toe shoes or boots during work hours as needed
Ability to work in wet or humid conditions as well as extreme cold or heat as needed.
