Service Manager- Dock and Door
We have an exciting opportunity for a Service Manager out of our Carlisle branch. The Service Manager will manage the day-to-day activities of Assistant Service Manager, Service Advisors, Road Technicians, Field Service Manager, Service Writer, Service Dispatchers, and other members of Dock & Door service staff. In addition, this individual will work with customers to resolve service-related inquiries or concerns.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain staffing for the department. This includes hiring, training, motivation, and monitoring staff performance.
Ensure new technicians are onboarded, trained, and mentored to maximize retention and improve productivity within their first two years of employment.
Ensure work orders flow through the department staff. Evaluate accuracy for billing and audit for billing readiness.
Participate in recruiting activities including phone screenings, interviews, job fairs and hiring.
Ensure performance evaluations are performed in accordance with company policy. Participate as needed. Conduct employee reviews for direct reports and implement Employee Performance Discussion form for coaching, recognition, or disciplinary action.
Evaluate various reports regarding department metrics (Overtime, Work in Progress (WIP), Planned Maintenance Completion, revenue trends, etc.) as well as quarterly reports for customers or potential accounts.
Schedule visits with existing customers to ensure services meet their expectations.
Respond to customer concerns or complaints with urgency regarding invoices or services rendered.
Discuss and analyze van inventory, tool, and stockroom needs with Parts Manager.
Support Dispatch team in determining daily, weekly, monthly priorities when scheduling PM’s, installs, repairs.
Work with Director of Operations in developing Dock & Door Division’s management team weekly, participating in strategy meetings.
Communicate frequently with Lead technicians to guide accordingly and meet with group monthly.
Work closely with Warehouse Solutions staff to ensure accuracy in providing bids, job updates, change orders, etc.
Ensure technician enrollment and attendance in company provided service training classes.
All other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
Four (4) years related work experience.
Two (2) years of management experience.
Computer skills using Microsoft products including Word and Excel.
Valid Driver’s License in good standing.
Ability to write emails and business correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to managers, co-workers, clients, and the public.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.
Strong relationship building and communication skills.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team on a variety of tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years of college or equivalent training
Two or more (2+) years of management experience in automotive or equipment industry
