Frequently Asked Questions

What are the pre-requisites to be certified as a trainer through our Train-the-Trainer program?

To effectively train associates, you and your team must be certified operators with a solid understanding and experience with the equipment. Properly instructing others on the equipment, coaching the team, or conducting refresher training on unsafe operations requires that you meet the guidelines set by OSHA 1910.178(l)(2)(iii). According to OSHA, all operator training and evaluations must be conducted by individuals who possess the necessary knowledge, training, and experience to train powered industrial truck operators and assess their competence.

Where will the training take place? – Any rewording ideas on this?

We prefer to conduct trainings at your facility, for no extra cost. This ensures the training is as relative to your operation as possible. However, if this doesn't work for your operation, we will work with you to find an alternative location.

What training does Lift, Inc. offer?

We offer operator and train-the-trainer training for most forklift and aerial lift equipment.

How long does the training take?

The course length depends on several factors, such as the experience of the individuals taking the course. Our trainer must also ensure they are comfortable with the participants' ability to operate the equipment or train others to operate it once the training is complete. We typically ask the customer to prepare for a full day of training, ranging from 4 to 8 hours. The trainer will provide a more accurate estimate of time after the course has been scheduled and they have had the opportunity to review the information.

When can training be scheduled?

We schedule training based on the customer’s needs and our availability. In addition to standard hours of Monday through Friday (8:00am Start Times), we offer second shift, night shift, and Saturday trainings at a differential rate. Once we know your preferred timing, we’ll work with you to find a date that accommodates your team.

I want to certify myself to operate equipment. Do you offer training for individuals that aren't requesting the training through a business?

No. While we can train individuals, the programs are designed exclusively for businesses.

Do we have to have the equipment we will be certified on available for training?

Yes, you do need to have the equipment available for training and ensure it is safe for operation. If you don’t have equipment on-site that can be used for the course, we have an Equipment Rental department that can provide a quote for rental options.

Do you need the names of the individuals attending the course in advance?

No, we just need a headcount prior to the training. The trainer will collect the individual names when they arrive the day of training.

How much does the training cost?

The cost depends on multiple factors. Since we base our trainings on the specific course you are looking for, the cost will vary depending on your requirements. Please reach out, and we’ll be happy to provide you with a free quote tailored to your needs.

How long does the certification last?

Anyone who takes the operator training course will need to be recertified every three years. The Train the Trainer course does not expire unless a change in law occurs within the guidelines set by OSHA 1910.178(l)(2)(iii)., which would make Lift, Inc. no longer acknowledge the certificate as valid. While there is no requirement for trainers to be recertified, we do recommend re-attending the course every three years as a refresher and to gain access to updated materials.
